Salesforce LinkedIn Sales Navigator Integration: How It Works + Best Alternatives

How the LinkedIn Sales Navigator and Salesforce integration really works. Embedded Profile vs CRM Sync, the Advanced Plus price wall, the real per-seat math, and the one-click alternative.

If you have ever tried to connect LinkedIn and Salesforce, you already know the confusing part. There is an official integration. There are a dozen third-party tools. And almost no one explains where one stops and the other starts.

So here is the honest version. LinkedIn does have an official Salesforce integration, called LinkedIn Sales Navigator for Salesforce. But what most teams actually want, enriched LinkedIn contacts flowing into Salesforce with a usable email and phone, sits behind the most expensive Sales Navigator tier. And even on that tier, the integration still does not hand you the contact's email. Below it, you get insight, not data you can act on.

This guide breaks down the three real ways to connect Sales Navigator and Salesforce, what each one costs per seat, where each one breaks, and how to pick the right path for your team. If you run HubSpot too, the same logic plays out on the HubSpot Sales Navigator integration, and a multi-CRM extension covers both.

The three ways to connect Sales Navigator and Salesforce

There are exactly three. They solve different problems, and they are priced an order of magnitude apart.

1. Embedded Profile: the widget inside Salesforce

This is the Sales Navigator widget that renders inside a Salesforce Lead, Contact, Account, or Opportunity record. Your rep sees the person's photo, current role, recent job changes, icebreakers, shared connections, and "Get Introduced" paths, all without leaving the Salesforce tab.

It is genuinely useful for context before a call. But read this part carefully, because it is the part the vendor pages skip: the Embedded Profile is read-only. It paints LinkedIn data on top of a Salesforce record you already have. It does not create records, it does not sync anything back, and it does not give you the person's email or phone number. You install it as a free managed package from the Salesforce AppExchange, but every rep who uses it needs a paid Sales Navigator Advanced seat, around $150 per seat per month. You can confirm the current tiers on the LinkedIn Sales Navigator plan comparison.

2. CRM Sync: the real integration (Advanced Plus only)

This is the one people mean when they say "the LinkedIn Salesforce integration." CRM Sync does a scheduled, two-way sync between Salesforce and Sales Navigator. It auto-saves your book of business (open Opportunities, your Accounts and Contacts) into Sales Navigator as saved leads and accounts, writes some activity back to Salesforce, and stamps CRM badges onto Sales Navigator so reps can filter prospects by your own pipeline stage and owner.

Three catches, and they compound:

  • It is Advanced Plus only. CRM Sync is gated to Sales Navigator Advanced Plus, the quote-only enterprise tier that lands around $1,600 per seat per year. There is no month-to-month, and no self-serve checkout.
  • It needs Salesforce API access. The sync runs through the Salesforce API, which is included in Enterprise, Unlimited, and Performance editions but not in the lower editions by default. If you are on Starter or Professional, that is a second upgrade conversation before anything syncs.
  • One instance per contract. A CRM Sync contract binds to a single Salesforce instance. Multiple orgs or a sandbox-to-production split is an admin project, not a toggle.

3. A Chrome extension: the one-click alternative

Instead of buying Advanced Plus for every rep, a LinkedIn-to-Salesforce Chrome extension lets a rep push the exact profile they are looking at into Salesforce in one click, with the work email and phone number already found and verified. It runs on a free LinkedIn account or any Sales Navigator tier, so there is no Advanced Plus seat to buy. This is where Surfe, Salesbolt, LinkPort, and Hublead live. The mechanics of that one-click capture are covered in detail in our guide to importing LinkedIn contacts to Salesforce.

What the native integration actually costs

Vendor pages quote "from $150 a month" and stop there. Here is the math a real team runs into.

Say you have 10 reps and you want the real integration, the one that syncs and writes activity back. That means Advanced Plus for all 10:

  • 10 x $1,600 = $16,000 per year, just for the Sales Navigator seats.
  • Plus a Salesforce edition that includes API access, if you are not already on one.
  • Plus the admin time to configure the connected app, the sync schedule, and field mapping.

And after all of that, the integration still does not give your reps a single work email or mobile number. That is the moment most teams discover the real gap, and start pricing a third-party tool to sit on top of the seats they just bought. For the wider category, our roundup of data enrichment tools shows where that spend usually goes next.

Side by side: the three options

  • What it actually does: Embedded Profile Shows a LinkedIn card inside a Salesforce record you already have; CRM Sync Scheduled two-way sync of your book of business + CRM badges in Sales Navigator; Chrome extension (Hublead) Creates the Salesforce record from the LinkedIn profile, enriched and deduped
  • Sales Navigator tier needed: Embedded Profile Advanced; CRM Sync Advanced Plus; Chrome extension (Hublead) None (works on a free LinkedIn account)
  • Rough cost: Embedded Profile ~$150 / seat / mo; CRM Sync ~$1,600 / seat / yr, quote-only; Chrome extension (Hublead) Self-serve, no Sales Navigator seat
  • Creates Salesforce records: Embedded Profile No, read-only overlay; CRM Sync Bulk sync of existing CRM data, not new prospects; Chrome extension (Hublead) Yes, one click per profile
  • Gives you email and phone: Embedded Profile No; CRM Sync No; Chrome extension (Hublead) Yes, verified and enriched
  • Logs LinkedIn activity: Embedded Profile No; CRM Sync Partial, InMail-centric writeback; Chrome extension (Hublead) Yes, full conversation as activities
  • Salesforce edition needed: Embedded Profile Any; CRM Sync API access (Enterprise and up); Chrome extension (Hublead) Any
  • Setup: Embedded Profile Admin installs the package; CRM Sync Admin + connected app + API access; Chrome extension (Hublead) Install the extension, connect Salesforce
  • Best for: Embedded Profile Context inside an existing record; CRM Sync Enterprise teams already on Advanced Plus; Chrome extension (Hublead) Reps prospecting on LinkedIn every day

The limits no one mentions

If you are leaning toward the native CRM Sync route, plan around these before you sign:

  • It is the top tier only. Real sync means Advanced Plus, per seat, billed annually. For a small team that number adds up fast, as the 10-rep math above shows.
  • It does not enrich. Sales Navigator shows you the person. It never gives you their work email or mobile, by design. That single gap is the most common reason teams bolt a third-party tool onto seats they already pay for. A one-click email and phone enrichment step closes it.
  • Import is pull-only. The CRM Sync flows your Salesforce data into Sales Navigator, not fresh LinkedIn prospects into Salesforce. New people you find while prospecting do not flow back as new Contacts automatically.
  • Writeback is narrow. Activity writeback is admin-configured and centered on InMails, not the regular LinkedIn messages between connections where most selling actually happens. To capture those, see how to sync LinkedIn messages to Salesforce.
  • One instance, API gated. One Salesforce instance per contract, plus the API access that the lower Salesforce editions do not include by default.

How to set it up, step by step

Turn on the Embedded Profile

  1. Install the free LinkedIn Sales Navigator managed package from the Salesforce AppExchange.
  2. Have your Salesforce admin add the Sales Navigator widget to the Lead, Contact, Account, and Opportunity page layouts (or the Lightning record pages).
  3. Confirm every rep who needs it is on a Sales Navigator Advanced seat. The widget now renders inside each record.

That gets you LinkedIn context inside Salesforce. It does not get you synced, enriched, contactable records. For that, you either upgrade every seat to Advanced Plus and configure CRM Sync, or you skip the wall with an extension.

Or skip the wall with an extension

  1. Install the Hublead Chrome extension and connect your Salesforce org.
  2. Open any LinkedIn or Sales Navigator profile.
  3. Click once. The contact lands in Salesforce as a Lead or Contact, with the work email and phone enriched, mapped to your fields, and deduped against records you already own.

Why native never gives you an email or phone

This trips up almost every team that buys Advanced Plus expecting a contactable list. It is not a missing feature LinkedIn forgot to ship. It is structural. LinkedIn does not expose member emails and phone numbers through Sales Navigator or its CRM Sync, full stop. The platform shows you the person and the relationship graph, and stops there.

So the real choice is not "native or third party." It is "where does the verified email come from." The native path leaves that gap open and assumes you fill it elsewhere. An enrichment-capable extension closes it at the moment of capture: it reads the profile, finds the work email and mobile from its data sources, verifies them, and writes the complete record into Salesforce. That is the practical difference between a name in your CRM and a contact you can actually reach. If you want to compare the dedicated tools on that one spec, our email finder roundup ranks them on find rate and verification.

Hublead vs the other Salesforce extensions

If you have decided the extension route fits your team, here is how the main options compare for Salesforce. The dividing lines that matter are enrichment and message sync, because one-click capture alone is table stakes that every tool below does. For the full buyer's view, see our guide to the best LinkedIn Chrome extension for Salesforce.

  • One-click LinkedIn to Salesforce: Hublead Yes; Surfe Yes; Salesbolt Yes; LinkPort (free) Yes
  • Email and phone enrichment: Hublead Yes, built in; Surfe Yes, waterfall across providers; Salesbolt No, capture only; LinkPort (free) No, capture only
  • Sync LinkedIn messages to Salesforce: Hublead Yes (beta); Surfe Yes; Salesbolt No; LinkPort (free) No
  • Dedupe and field mapping: Hublead Yes; Surfe Yes; Salesbolt Yes, Salesforce-native; LinkPort (free) Limited
  • Works without a Sales Navigator seat: Hublead Yes; Surfe Yes; Salesbolt Yes; LinkPort (free) Yes
  • Also syncs HubSpot: Hublead Yes; Surfe Yes; Salesbolt No, Salesforce only; LinkPort (free) Yes
  • Pricing model: Hublead Self-serve, free trial; Surfe Paid, per seat; Salesbolt Quote / per seat; LinkPort (free) Free, no enrichment

Hublead started as a LinkedIn-to-CRM tool for HubSpot, where it has spent years on the exact problem this page describes: one click from a LinkedIn profile to an enriched, deduped CRM record. It now brings that same flow to Salesforce. The Salesforce integration is in beta and rolling out now. Teams running both CRMs can keep the same extension across the HubSpot LinkedIn integration and Salesforce.

Which one should you pick?

  • Already standardized on Sales Navigator Advanced Plus across the team? Use the native CRM Sync for the book-of-business sync. You already paid for it. Then add an extension for the email and phone it cannot give you.
  • Want LinkedIn context inside records and nothing more? The Embedded Profile on Advanced is enough, and it is the cheapest native option.
  • Reps prospecting on LinkedIn every day who need the contact in Salesforce with a real email? An extension wins on price and on speed, and it is the only one of the three that hands you a contactable record. Running paid LinkedIn campaigns too? Wire those into the CRM the same way with our LinkedIn Ads and Salesforce integration guide.

Can I get LinkedIn contacts into Salesforce without Sales Navigator?

Yes. A Chrome extension like Hublead pushes the profile into Salesforce in one click, with the email and phone enriched, on a free LinkedIn account. No Sales Navigator seat needed. See the step-by-step in our import LinkedIn contacts to Salesforce guide.

Why does Sales Navigator never show me an email address?

By design. LinkedIn does not expose member emails or phone numbers through Sales Navigator or its CRM Sync. The native integration shows you the person and the relationship, not their contact details. To get a verified work email into Salesforce, you need an enrichment tool that finds and writes it at the point of capture.

Does the native integration sync LinkedIn messages to Salesforce?

Only partially, and only on Advanced Plus. Writeback is admin-configured and centered on InMails. To log every LinkedIn conversation as a Salesforce activity on the matching record, most teams use an extension, covered in our sync LinkedIn messages to Salesforce guide.

What Salesforce editions support the integration?

CRM Sync needs Salesforce API access, which is included in Enterprise, Unlimited, and Performance editions but not in Starter or Professional by default. Check your edition before budgeting for Advanced Plus, because a Salesforce upgrade may be part of the cost.
